Chat about the old days with Ormie King

 

 

 

If anybody's an expert on Auburn in the 1950s, it's Ormie King, newspaper columnist and Auburn's unofficial historian. He'll be on hand from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Bourke Library at Cayuga Community College as part of this year's Cayuga Reads community reading event. Ormie's collection of scrapbooks and memorabilia are housed at the college library.

This week: contest winners, a movie and more

There's a lot going on with Cayuga Reads this week, beginning with book discussions at Cayuga Community College's Bourke Library - at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, or at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19. Come and talk about this year's book, "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson.

The winners of writing and photography contests will be honored at a reception at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, 1879 West Genesee Street Road, Auburn.

The movie "Pleasantville," which follows two modern-day teenagers who enter the complacent world of the 1950s, will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College.
